SPORTS REPORTS
GENERAL NOTES FOR SPORTS TEAMS:
1. COACHES ARE TO REMIND PARENTS WORKING IN THE SNACK STAND THAT CHILDREN
UNDER AGE 16 ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE SNACK BARS AT ANY TIME.
This is a huge liability for the town since all snack bars are now
equipped with fryers and grills.
BASEBALL (No one available to report)

Shed
roof at the school needs to be repaired.
EASD is okay with us fixing it since the FTAA built it. Does anyone know anyone who can repair it for
us?
o
ACTION ITEM:
1. Status: Only one person replied to email with offer to
help.
2. John O’Neil reported that Chris was
getting price quotes from Bob Goodyear.

Chris
would like a list from Butch Scerbo as to who still needs to return uniforms
and/or equipment.

ACTION ITEM: Butch to get
a list to Chris.
§
Lock
box at school was vandalized and destroyed – need to replace.
§
Lock
box on Jr. Legion field needs to be replaced. (Field 5 box lock doesn’t work
also)

Board pays for these.

ACTION ITEM: Don to have
someone look at these and decide if new ones are needed.
1. Status: Don gave item to Community Center employees
and they looked at them. Chris Henry to
check to see if they are working now. Ty
reported that he can get the softball one open now with his key.
CHEERING (Report by Dana Guffy read)

The
cheerleaders participated in Community Days.
§
Not
read – Dan asked if Melody Talpas (present) would be interested in nomination
for cheering co-commissioner and she agreed and mentioned the Kristie Miers
would also be interested.
FOOTBALL (Report by Fran Tone)
§
This
week marks the half way point and all teams are doing well.
§
Jr.
Pee Wees are 2-1, Pee Wee 9’s are 2-1, Pee Wee 10’s are 3-0 and Midgets are
3-0.
§
Fran
would like to squash rumors about kids quitting teams.
o
There
are 35 flag players
o
There
were 39 Jr. Pee Wees – 1 didn’t show, 1 was found to be a flag aged player, and
2 left leaving 35.
o
There
were 49 Pee Wees – 2 left for overweight, 2 quit leaving 45.
o
There
were 39 Midgets – 1 quit, 3 were added

Teams
are instruction to run practices as always not to run kids out and encourage
them to quit.

will cover chaperones for the 9/21 dance and there are currently 24 volunteers
scheduled.

are ready for first dance.

bar for first Sunday games went very well.

Soccer
also opened for day and that went fine too.

has been stocking shelves.

gave 300 copies of registration forms to Carl.

ACTION ITEM: John Wieller
to follow up with Jim Farley to find out where the late signup fees are since
the FTAA did not receive those monies.

Status: Late sign up fees do come to the FTAA and Jim
Farley is forwarding those monies.

is still working on non-volunteers lists from coaches.

Phone line – A vote was taken to disconnect
the phone line which allows people to call in and leave messages for specific
sports. We are paying monthly fee and it
hasn’t been used in months. Motion
carried.
§
Dogs in the park – a parent complained via email to
the FTAA and a proposal was made to make an announcement prior to each game
that dogs are not permitted in the park.
Announcements have already been made.
§
A
discussion was held regarding the use of tobacco
products during games and practices after a letter from a parent was
received by the FTAA with regard to the offense to parents and kids.
o
Baseball
has rules governing the use of tobacco products and you cannot use them within
50 ft. of the benches.
o
Does
the FTAA want to add a by-law for all other sports?

Dan to come up with a written by-law to be approved by the members.

Softball
field was fixed.

Lights need to go on at dusk for football

Fundraising – fundraising at all levels should
continue as is.
o
Anyone
wishing to put items out for sale on football fields, needs to see Fran Tone,
Commissioner.
o
Commissioners
of all sports should okay fundraising.
o
Fran
Tone suggested some guidelines and he will try to keep a better handle on
things for football.
o
A
meeting separate from this meeting will be held to discuss letters regarding
fundraising.

The
township reported that the grill and one part of the oven don’t work. No one has ever used these. They may not have been connected.
§
The
snack bar grill was left on over night after football last week. With new management, we are trying to work
out the kinks.
