Meeting called to order by Dan Martyak. 

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

§         Reviewed and accepted with a motion from Niccole White; seconded by Jerry Stefanelli.  Motion carried.

 

MINUTES:

§         Minutes from 8/22/07 meeting reviewed and approved with a change was made to reflect the correct date at header to 8/22/07 from 5/22/07 with a motion from Ty Corallo; seconded by Kevin Wall.  Motion carried.

 

CORRESPONDENCE (Nancy Bonfanti): 

§         No correspondence to report.

 

SPORTS REPORTS

 

GENERAL NOTES FOR SPORTS TEAMS: 

1.       COACHES ARE TO REMIND PARENTS WORKING IN THE SNACK STAND THAT CHILDREN UNDER AGE 16 ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE SNACK BARS AT ANY TIME.  This is a huge liability for the town since all snack bars are now equipped with fryers and grills. 

 

BASEBALL (No one available to report)

§         Shed roof at the school needs to be repaired.  EASD is okay with us fixing it since the FTAA built it.  Does anyone know anyone who can repair it for us? 

o        ACTION ITEM:  Nancy to send note out to email list to see if anyone can help out.

1.       Status:  Only one person replied to email with offer to help.

2.       John O’Neil reported that Chris was getting price quotes from Bob Goodyear.

§         Chris would like a list from Butch Scerbo as to who still needs to return uniforms and/or equipment.

o        ACTION ITEM:  Butch to get a list to Chris.

§         Lock box at school was vandalized and destroyed – need to replace.

§         Lock box on Jr. Legion field needs to be replaced. (Field 5 box lock doesn’t work also)

o        Rec. Board pays for these. 

o        ACTION ITEM:  Don to have someone look at these and decide if new ones are needed.

1.       Status:  Don gave item to Community Center employees and they looked at them.  Chris Henry to check to see if they are working now.  Ty reported that he can get the softball one open now with his key.

CHEERING (Report by Dana Guffy read)

§         The cheerleaders participated in Community Days.

§         Not read – Dan asked if Melody Talpas (present) would be interested in nomination for cheering co-commissioner and she agreed and mentioned the Kristie Miers would also be interested.

FOOTBALL (Report by Fran Tone)

§         This week marks the half way point and all teams are doing well.

§         Jr. Pee Wees are 2-1, Pee Wee 9’s are 2-1, Pee Wee 10’s are 3-0 and Midgets are 3-0.

§         Fran would like to squash rumors about kids quitting teams.

o        There are 35 flag players

o        There were 39 Jr. Pee Wees – 1 didn’t show, 1 was found to be a flag aged player, and 2 left leaving 35.

o        There were 49 Pee Wees – 2 left for overweight, 2 quit leaving 45.

o        There were 39 Midgets – 1 quit, 3 were added

§         Teams are instruction to run practices as always not to run kids out and encourage them to quit.

§         Fran felt the Easton game being held during Community Days went well.

SOCCER (Report by Steve Semenak)

  • Season in full swing and things are going well.
  • 2 nets were stolen so the budget may have to be adjusted to replace them.
    • Status:  debate as to which nets were stolen.  Greg in contact with Rec. Board.
  • Greg would like to open snack bars for some Saturdays and Kevin was given dates to have it stocked.

BASKETBALL (Report by Don Miller)

  • First league meeting has not been held yet.
  • ACTION ITEM:  Nancy to send email to distribution about final dates for sign-ups.

 

LACROSSE (Report by Scott Hardy)

  • No report.

SOFTBALL (Report by Ty Corallo)

  • There are still 3 uniforms out. 
  • Ty Corallo is interested in remaining as co-commissioner for softball and has someone he’d like to pursue to help him. 

WRESTLING   (Report by Joe Veres)

  • Joe attended first league meeting and there are 3 home matches.
  • Joe needs proof of insurance.  Joe will contact the Reagle Insurance company for this.
  • Kevin Dilts will be the new head coach.
  • Practices begin November 5th.
  • Budget was approved. 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

DANCES (Report by Kevin Wall)

  • First dance scheduled for 9/21.

·         Cheering will cover chaperones for the 9/21 dance and there are currently 24 volunteers scheduled.

·         Police are ready for first dance.

·         Rules to be handed out to cars.

·         Snack bar will be ready.

SNACK BAR (Report by Kevin Wall/Dan Martyak)

·         Snack bar for first Sunday games went very well.

·         Soccer also opened for day and that went fine too.

·         Pepsi has been stocking shelves.

·         Volunteers are going good.

REGISTRATIONS (Report by Dan Martyak)

·         Dan gave 300 copies of registration forms to Carl.

·         ACTION ITEM:  John Wieller to follow up with Jim Farley to find out where the late signup fees are since the FTAA did not receive those monies.

o        Status:  Late sign up fees do come to the FTAA and Jim Farley is forwarding those monies.

·         Baseball is still working on non-volunteers lists from coaches.

RECREATION BOARD (Report by Carl Scerbo)

  • Budgets were cut and approved.
  • Sponsoring the 5K run on Labor Day Monday.
  • Would like to purchase 2 scoreboards in addition to the 2 the FTAA would purchase so that softball fields and baseball fields and the lit football field could all benefit. 
    • Rec. Board advises that these be purchased before the end of the year or money will not be set aside.
    • Nancy Bonfanti will get pricing from a few vendors. 
  • Lock Boxes for Lacrosse field at Meco are being purchased.
  • Rec. Board will replace the 2 destroyed lock boxes on baseball fields.

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • No report.

BACKGROUND CHECKS (Report by John Wieller)

  • No report.

GUIDELINES COMMITTEE (Report by Nancy Bonfanti)

  • Basketball guidelines were reviewed but not accepted because of the way the draft is run. 
  • ACTION ITEM:  Don Miller to write up a new draft of that section of the guidelines and send to Nancy Bonfanti to add.  This will be reviewed again at next meeting.

 

WEBSITE   (Report from Ed Adamko read)

  • Soccer had some large updates to their website.

 

OLD BUSINESS

  • Community Days (9/15/07 and 9/16/07)
    • Nancy sent an email to The Print Box to ask for a status on the partial refund for the hackey sacks but had not head back.
    • Dan gave a special thank you to Austin Brown, Bailey Tuterice and Jonathan Shoolbraid for their great efforts in selling out the popular glow sticks during the fireworks.  Dan also thanked the town for all the cleanup effort immediately following the event.  Everything looked great the next day.
    • Dan felt that even though we will probably just break even, the membership drive was successful since many new members joined during the event.
    • Raffle winners were drawn and the results were:
      • Julie Novick – Carol’s Family Salon
      • Alex Rabar – Daisy Family Restaurant
      • Chris Henry – Nicolosi’s Pizza
    • ACTION ITEM:  Nancy Bonfanti to send thank you to each sponsor on FTYSO letterhead. 
  • Halloween Dance info. is now on the website.  Committee meeting to be held Tuesday, September 25 @ 7:30.
    • Will hang laminated signs in the snack bars.
    • Tim Woodard expressed concern about sponsoring an alcohol at the Halloween Dance.
      • Dan expressed that this year is a personal choice whether to attend.  Do we want, as an Association to address this issue if another dance is held next year?
  • Registration Fee Document review (Nancy Bonfanti)
    • Nancy Bonfanti presented a second notice of amendment to the by-laws regarding the one-time family activity fee.  Typo change from May, 2010 to May, 2001 in fourth paragraph.  Vote taken to pass – No objections.
  • Impact Fee Document review (Nancy Bonfanti)
    • ACTION ITEM:  Don Miller to bring back comments from Finance Committee at the next meeting.
      • Status:  Don reported that the Impact Fee Document was kicked back and the Finance Committee has agreed to take a second look at this if the FTAA is willing to reduce its fee along with the Township fee.
      • ACTION ITEM:  Nancy Bonfanti to re-look at the numbers.  Dan may want to look into how much money the FTAA and the town would lose if this is done.  There is a meeting of the finance committee on 9/26 at 3PM.  Nancy will check her schedule to see if she can attend.
  • Coaches, shirts, hats, jackets…
    • Butch suggested a shirt that would be $15-$20 each.
    • Proposals:  Head coach gets shirt with 2 assistants although there are sports which would require more assistants to have shirts.
    • Every 3 years the shirt can be replaced if background checks are up-to-date.  A slip would be issued that would allow you to get a shirt.  Carl Scerbo would administer shirts.
    • ACTION ITEM:  Steve Tone to get prices on several shirt choices and present at next meeting.
  • First Aid kits
    • ACTION ITEM:  Matthew Daud will put together a sample large and sample small kit.
    • A motion to approve the purchase of ice packs up to $200 was made by Jerry Stefanelli and seconded by George Shoolbraid.
  • Budgets
    • All budgets were reviewed, adjusted and approved at the Rec. Board Meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS

§         Phone line – A vote was taken to disconnect the phone line which allows people to call in and leave messages for specific sports.  We are paying monthly fee and it hasn’t been used in months.  Motion carried.

§         Dogs in the park – a parent complained via email to the FTAA and a proposal was made to make an announcement prior to each game that dogs are not permitted in the park.  Announcements have already been made.

§         A discussion was held regarding the use of tobacco products during games and practices after a letter from a parent was received by the FTAA with regard to the offense to parents and kids.

o        Baseball has rules governing the use of tobacco products and you cannot use them within 50 ft. of the benches.

o        Does the FTAA want to add a by-law for all other sports?

§         5 in favor; 0 against

§         ACTION ITEM:  Nancy and Dan to come up with a written by-law to be approved by the members.

§         Disrepair of fields 3 and 5.

o        Softball field was fixed.

§         Lights need to go on at dusk for football field and off at 8:15 PM.  Bill the FTAA for usage.

§         Fundraising – fundraising at all levels should continue as is.

o        Anyone wishing to put items out for sale on football fields, needs to see Fran Tone, Commissioner.

o        Commissioners of all sports should okay fundraising.

o        Fran Tone suggested some guidelines and he will try to keep a better handle on things for football.

o        A meeting separate from this meeting will be held to discuss letters regarding fundraising.

§         The township reported that the grill and one part of the oven don’t work.  No one has ever used these.  They may not have been connected.

§         The snack bar grill was left on over night after football last week.  With new management, we are trying to work out the kinks.
