FORKS TOWNSHIP FOOTBALL

Welcome to the Forks Township Football program. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with some information about the program and provide answers to some of the most asked questions.

IMPORTANT

ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE A COPY OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE BY THE END OF THE FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICE. PLEASE GIVE THE COPY OF THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO YOUR COACH.

AGES AND WEIGHTS

FLAG (5 & 6) (NO WEIGHT LIMIT)

JUNIOR PEE WEE (7 & 8) (90 POUNDS)

PEE WEE (9 & 10) (110 POUNDS)

MIDGETS (11) (140 POUNDS)

(12)  (135 POUNDS)

(13)  (120 POUNDS)

The age cut off for each level is August 1st. The only exception to the rule is at the midget level. A player may not turn 14 during the calendar year.

Weights are established by the league. Players must weigh in before each game. If a player does not make weight at their level at the beginning of practice, there are options:

1)      If a player is close to the weight at his level at the beginning of practice he can choose to lose the weight to get under the limit.

2)      The player, with and only with the approval of the commissioner, can move up to the next level.

We do not condone nor will we be any part of any non-natural (i.e.supplements)

weight loss for any player.

                                            PHYSICALS

Each player must have a physical prior to full contact drills.

We do not have a form for the physicals. A note on the doctors stationary is fine.

If you have recently gotten or a going to get a physical for school or summer camp it can be used for football as long as in is indicated on the doctors stationary.

                                             PRACTICES

FIRST PRACTICE – MONDAY, AUGUST 3rd

                                             6:00 PM

PRACTICE SITE – COMMUNITY PARK

We are allowed 5 practices a week up to the first game. Coaches at each level will set   their own practice schedules.

It is important that players attend all practices. We will have 16-18 practices prior to our first game. Conditioning, instruction, especially in contact areas, putting players in position and establishing line ups are all done during this period. Unexcused absences may effect playing time. Because of the age span in our program will have its own set of rules regarding this and any other issues the coach at that level feels needed. Be advised that the does not require a team to play anyone who has missed practices during the week prior to a game.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT PRACTICES

1)      The first few practices at each level will be with helmets and practice jerseys only. The head coach at your level will advise you when practices with full equipment will begin.

2)      Players are responsible for bringing their own drinks to practice. Please send only water (preferably) or a sports drink. DO NOT SEND SODA . Drinks breaks will be given during practice.

3)      Please advise you coach of any medical condition (i.e., asthma) or illness (i.e., felt sick at school) before any practice or game.
