2010 FREQUENTLY ASKED BASEBALL QUESTIONS

• All Ages EXCEPT TEE BALL will be contacted by their coach around the 1st week of April.
• TEE BALL players will be contacted by their coach around the 3rd week in April.
• TEE BALL players must be born before May 1, 2004.
• The date cutoff for all levels ( except for Sr. Babe Ruth)is May 1st. The player’s age on April 30th is the age group they will play in. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Tee Ball and Coach Pitch (ages 7 & 8) will be grouped only by neighborhood. Rosters are assigned by the baseball commissioner and once they are issued to coaches they will not be changed.
• Teams aged 9 and above are chosen by DRAFT. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Practices will start around April 1st.
• Games will start around April 17th.
• Game days for Minors League are Mon, Wed & Sat.
• Game days for Majors League are Tue, Thur & Sat.
• Makeup may be assigned on Sundays after 1 pm.
• Practice days and times are determined by the coach.
• ALL players aged 13-15 will be invited to tryouts. Tryouts will be held around the 3rd week of March.
• Tryouts are not mandatory for ages 13-15. If your child wants to be considered for Junior Legion they MUST attend the tryouts. Otherwise, they will be placed on a team based on the coach’s prior knowledge of the player’s ability.
• Players participating in High School baseball programs should sign up now regardless. To avoid conflict, the programs for these age groups do not start until close to the end of the school season has ended, so they are able to Play for both the High School and for Forks Township.
• All parents must participate in 3 hours of volunteer activity. This may include the snack bar, youth dances, field maintenance and umpiring.
• All players, coaches and parents will be asked to sign a code of conduct prior to the beginning of the regular season.
• All parents of players selected to either the 9/10 or 11/12 year old All Star Teams must participate in (3) hours of additional Snack Bar volunteer activity during the Forks Baseball Tournament, which is held late June &/or early July each year. This is in addition to the standard volunteer hours.
• The cutoff date for Senior Babe Ruth is Jan. 1. A Player Turning 19 prior to Jan. 1, 2010 is Ineligible.
